The Relationship Between Coronary Heart Disease and Type A Behavior Pattern

Abstract
The Type A behavior pattern(TABP) is an action-emotion complex that is exhibited by predisposed men and women in response to certain stressful or challenging environmental event.
The purpose of this study was to confirm the relationship between Coronary Heart Disease(CHD) and TABP, to discriminate among the four methods of assessing Type A behavior: JAS(Jenkins Activity Survey), the Eysenck Type A Questionnaire, the
Framingham
Type A scale and the Bortner Rating Scale. Traditional CHD risk factors were also analyzed.
@ES The results of study were as fallows:
@EB 1. The JAS is the most important assessing method among the four assessing methods of the Type A behavior pattern.
2. The core elements of the coronary-prone personality is time-urgency/anger-out factor which is one of subfactor of the TABP. And it is indicated that job involvement/activity factor, one of subfactor of the TABP, is not related to CHD.
3. The TABP is the CHD risk factor which is independent upon traditional CHD risk factors.
